Avata 2 — the standard for accessible FPV
The DJI Avata 2 is a ducted cinewhoop with a big sensor and DJI's best goggles. Fly More Combos pair it with Goggles 3 (real-view pass-through so you can see your surroundings) and the RC Motion 3. Normal mode is nearly foolproof; Sport mode is fast; Manual mode with the FPV Remote Controller 3 is a proper acro drone. Choose the three-battery combo — FPV flights are short and addictive.
Avata 360 — fly first, frame later
The DJI Avata 360 swaps the conventional camera for a 360° system. You fly the same immersive way, then choose the angle in post: follow the drone's path, look backwards, or create the "invisible drone" effect where the aircraft disappears from the shot. It is the most creative tool here and a natural fit for tours, real estate and action reveals. Flat 4K quality trails the Avata 2's larger sensor, and stitching adds editing time.
Neo 2 — FPV under 250 g
The DJI Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo includes Goggles N3 and the RC Motion 3, giving you goggles-on flying with a 160 g aircraft that needs no registration for recreational use in the US or Canada. Omnidirectional obstacle sensing and full guards make it the safest way to learn indoors. It is slower and the camera is smaller, but as a first FPV kit — or a training drone for an FPV pilot who later steps up to the Avata 2 — it is hard to beat at $187.78 for the base aircraft.
Goggles: 3 vs N3
Goggles 3 offer micro-OLED displays, diopter adjustment and real-view pass-through; Goggles N3 use a single large LCD, fit over glasses and cost less. Both support head tracking with the Avata 360 and Neo 2. If you already own Goggles 3 from an Avata 2, they also work with the Neo 2.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a spotter to fly FPV in the US?
Yes. Under FAA rules the remote pilot must keep the aircraft within visual line of sight, so when you wear goggles a visual observer standing next to you must watch the drone. The same applies in Canada under RPAS rules.
Can a complete beginner fly the Avata 2?
Yes, in Normal or Sport mode with the RC Motion 3 — point the controller and squeeze the trigger. Manual (acro) mode requires the FPV Remote Controller 3 and practice in the DJI simulator.
Avata 360 or Avata 2 for cinematic footage?
The Avata 2 has the larger 1/1.3-inch sensor and produces sharper flat 4K footage. The Avata 360 lets you reframe after the flight and hides the aircraft from the shot, which is powerful for creative reveals and tours.
Does the Avata 2 need FAA registration?
Yes: at about 377 g it must be registered and broadcast Remote ID. The Neo 2 at around 160 g is exempt for recreational flying.
